Strangely familiar, yet mysterious.

I walk around at night with my camera and flashlight, recording what I see.

I take photographs of places and things that are familiar, that others might view as mundane. For me, there is great beauty in the mundane, and the quiet solitude of night adds mystery.

The windmill at the Burlington Electric Department looked especially glamorous the night the “news” broke about some supposed espionage regarding our utility company and the Russians.

***

Maybe the red and blue lights are some secret signal used by spies. Maybe the spies saw me wandering around; no one else did.

***

Did some brilliant employee make a conscious decision to balance the left and right white lights with the acid green bulb in the center? Or, was this the last bulb in the supply closet?

***

I never noticed how perfect this pine tree is until I saw it draped in snow at night. It is in the parking lot behind the empty building that once housed the Greyhound Bus Station.

A tool shed glows with possibility.
